Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 2:34 PM PDT on October 7, 2008

... Major change in the weather pattern for the second half of the
week for our entire area...

... Possible frost Friday and Saturday night over Napa and Sonoma counties...

A strong storm system is forecast to dive down from Canada late
Wednesday night and move into southern Nevada on Friday. As this
system moves to the south much cooler air will accompany it along
with very gusty winds from the north. Although the event is still
a few days away... the different computer models are in good
agreement that colder weather along with windy conditions will
occur through the entire district.

Ahead of the storm... the pressure gradient will greatly increase
which will lead to an increase in northerly winds by Thursday
afternoon. Winds will continue to remain strong and blustery all
of the way through Saturday afternoon. Wind gusts are expected to
approach or exceed 40 mph in many areas especially for higher
elevation locations and the coastal waters. Even lower lying
locations including places along the coast will have the potential
for very windy conditions during this period.

Beside the stronger winds... colder weather will blanket our entire
area. Persons in the North Bay should be prepared for much colder
overnight lows. Patchy frost over Napa and Sonoma counties is also
expected due to low temperatures dropping to around freezing in
sheltered spots. Persons with agricultural interests in the Napa and
Sonoma areas should pay particular attention to this developing
situation.

Conditions will start to moderate on Sunday as a ridge of high
pressure builds back into California.
