Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 7:44 PM EST on February 10, 2012

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM EST
Saturday...

Hazardous weather...

* occasional snow will continue early tonight. A band of heavy
lake effect snow is expected to move across Berrien County late
tonight and Saturday morning... transitioning to scattered snow
   showers Saturday afternoon.

* Sharply colder temperatures and brisk winds will create
   single digit wind chill temperatures.

Impacts...

* snow and ice covered roads will result in extremely hazardous
   travel conditions.

* Snow totals of 3 to 7 inches are expected with isolated higher
amounts possible. The heaviest amounts are expected in far
southwestern Berrien County. Snowfall rates of up to 2 inches
per hour are possible late tonight and Saturday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Special Statement
Statement as of 6:06 PM CST on February 10, 2012/

... Deteriorating travel conditions this evening...

Occasional snow will continue across the area through the evening.
Visibilities may drop to a half mile at times during heavier
bursts of snow. A strong cold front will continue to move southeast
from southwest lower Michigan and Northwest Indiana across the
remainder of southern Michigan and most of Northeast Indiana by
midnight. Temperatures will fall rapidly into the 20s as the front
moves through and north winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph. The
snowfall and falling temperatures will likely cause roads to become
snow and ice covered this evening.
