Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 5:27 am PDT on October 7, 2008/

... Temperatures to go from well above normal midweek to below normal
over the weekend...

A ridge of high pressure will lead to above normal temperatures
today with some additional warming Wednesday. Many desert
locations... including the Phoenix area... will approach or reach 100
degrees on Wednesday.

A cooling trend will begin Thursday... leading to much cooler
temperatures over the weekend as a low pressure system develops over
the western states. Highs this weekend for most desert locations will
be in the low to mid 80s after a cold front moves through.

Periods of breezy to windy conditions... especially over southeast
California and southwest Arizona... can also be expected during this
time. The center of the system will remain over the Great Basin and
moisture will be limited. However... there will be a slight chance of
showers over the higher terrain of south-central Arizona Friday night
and Saturday. A warming trend will begin Monday.
