Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 9:56 PM EST on January 6, 2009

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 7 am Wednesday
to 12 PM EST Thursday...

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 7 am Wednesday
to 12 PM EST Thursday.

Snow will develop across the region Wednesday morning... then
begin to mix with sleet and freezing rain during the afternoon.
This transition will occur earliest near the coast. A wintry mix
of snow... sleet and freezing rain will continue Wednesday night.
Precipitation will transition back to snow before diminishing
Thursday morning. Storm total snowfall through Thursday morning
is generally expected to range from 4 to 7 inches across interior
downeast areas... with 3 to 5 inches along the coast. Storm total
ice accumulation is expected to be a quarter of an inch or less.
Some sleet is also expected.

This storm will have a moderate impact on the advisory area. A
combination of snow... sleet... and freezing rain will frequently
limit visibilities to less than one half mile. Though winds will
be light... snow and sleet will accumulate rapidly making removal
difficult. Expect snow and sleet covered roads to cause travel
hardships. Light to moderate freezing rain will cause a glaze of
ice on roads... trees... buildings and power lines. The weight of
the ice may cause a few tree limbs to snap with isolated power
outages possible. Untreated roads will be ice covered and
slippery.

Please report accumulations to the National Weather Service by
calling toll free... 877-633-6772. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio... your local media... or go to www.Weather.Gov/car for
further updates on this weather situation.
