Winter Storm Watch
Statement as of 3:54 am CST on January 7, 2009

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Thursday evening through
Friday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from Thursday evening through
Friday afternoon.

Another storm system will move from British Columbia into
northeast Montana by late Thursday and then across North Dakota
into west central Minnesota by Friday morning. There is a threat
for 6 or more inches of snowfall mainly from the Minot and Devils
Lake area southeast into the Red River valley beginning Thursday
evening and ending by Friday afternoon. Winds during most of the
snowfall will not be strong... but they will increase to northerly
at 20 to 30 mph by Friday afternoon causing some blowing and
drifting snow.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
