... Winter mix may affect the area Thursday and Thursday night...

An eastern Pacific storm system is expected to move across the
northern plains Thursday through Friday. Current indications
suggest that the track of this storm will allow warmer air aloft
to move across southwestern and south central North Dakota during
the day on Thursday. During this time... surface temperatures are
expected to remain at or below freezing across south central North
Dakota... possibly leading to a period of sleet and freezing rain
during the day on Thursday. This could produce some minor ice
accumulations across portions of southwestern and south central
North Dakota.

By early Friday morning colder air is expected to spill back
across the area... likely changing the winter mix to some light
snow. Additionally... northwesterly winds will increase to 25 to 35
mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph early on Friday morning. This could
produce some blowing and drifting snow... especially across south
central North Dakota.

Those planning travel across western and central North Dakota
Thursday and Friday are urged to check the latest weather
forecasts on this developing winter storm.
