Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 9:42 PM MST on July 19, 2008/

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Sunday morning through Sunday
evening...

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northwest Arizona... southeast
California and southern Nevada... including the following
areas... in northwest Arizona... Lake havasu and Fort
Mohave... Lake Mead National Recreation Area... northwest deserts
and northwest plateau. In southeast California... Cadiz
basin... Death Valley National Park... eastern Mojave
Desert... morongo basin... San Bernardino County-upper Colorado
River valley and western Mojave Desert. In southern Nevada...
Esmeralda and central Nye County... Lake Mead National Recreation
Area... Las Vegas Valley... Lincoln County... northeast Clark
County... Sheep Range... southern Clark County... Spring
Mountains-Red Rock Canyon and western Clark and southern Nye
County.

* From Sunday morning through Sunday evening

* abundant moist and unstable air will lead to scattered
thunderstorms across the region with the potential to produce
rainfall rates between 1 and 2 inches per hour. Some storms
could produce even more intense rainfall. Thunderstorms will
move slowly to the north and could redevelop over areas that
have already received significant rainfall... especially near
higher terrain.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation
and persons in the watch area should be alert to the potential
for heavy rainfall and be prepared to take quick action and move
to higher ground.
