Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 9:27 am PDT on August 8, 2008/

... A new red flag warning is in effect until 9 PM MDT /8 PM PDT/
this evening for the Burns and Vale blm which is also fire zones
636 and 637...

The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a red flag
warning... which is in effect until 9 PM MDT /8 PM PDT/ this
evening.

A very moist and unstable airmass will remain over the area
through early this evening. This moisture will combine with a
weak upper disturbance located over northern California. This
disturbance will move over the region today bringing another round
of convection. Gusty winds are expected in the vicinity of the
convection. Most of the rainfall will be limited to near the core
of the storms... with locally heavy rainfall possible.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.

502 am PDT Fri Aug 8 2008

... Red flag warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this
evening for abundant lightning over dry fuels over the lower
Columbia Basin... northeast Oregon mountains... Baker County... and
the northern Blue Mountains...

A red flag warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this
evening.

Scattered thunderstorms with frequent cloud-to-ground lightning
will continue off and on through at least this evening.
Lightning- caused fires have already been observed in the warning
area.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds and low relative humidity will create explosive fire
growth potential. For additional weather information... check our
web site at www.Weather.Gov/Pendleton.
