A lake Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 am EST Sunday.

* Hazards: strong winds.

* Winds: winds northwest 20 to 25 knots. Gusts as high as 35
knots.

* Timing: this afternoon through early Sunday morning.

* Impacts: strong gusty winds will create hazardous boating
conditions on area lakes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats and personal watercraft will be
especially prone to capsizing.

Statement as of 7:40 am EST on February 11, 2012

... Red flag warning remains in effect from noon today to 6 PM EST
this evening...

A red flag warning remains in effect from noon today to 6 PM this
evening.

* Affected area... central South Carolina and the central Savannah
River area of Georgia.

* Winds... northwest 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Timing... from noon to 6 PM today.

* Relative humidity... as low as 20 to 24 percent.

* Temperatures... highs in the lower to middle 50s.

* Impacts... any fires may quickly spread and grow out of
control. Fires may also easily ignite due to Sparks and
discarded smoking material.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds and low relative humidities will create explosive
fire growth potential.
