Statement as of 11:20 am EST on February 11, 2012

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am EST Sunday...

* locations... the west facing slopes of Greenbrier County and
locations above 2500 feet.

* Hazard types... snow... gusty winds... wind chills... whiteout
conditions.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 6 to 12 inches across the
western slopes... with 1 to 4 inches elsewhere.


* Timing... heaviest snow until midnight... then becoming light to
moderate.

* Impacts... heavy snow... winds gusting to 50 mph... bitter wind
chills... blowing and drifting of snow... whiteout conditions.

* Winds... northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Temperatures... falling into the teens with single digits tonight
in the higher elevations.

* Wind chills... zero to 15 below zero tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency.

The heavy snow and wind will allow for a rapid drop in
visibilities to less than a half mile in spots and cause whiteout
conditions.
